Mr. ITO, our president participates in the Egypt mission as a representative of the Japan Die & Mold Industry Association.

President ITO participated in an Egypt mission as a press expert and international committee member of the Japan Die & Mold Industry Association (JDMA) from January 11 to 21, 2025.  This was realized when the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) requested support from Japan, which boasts the world’s leading mold and die industry, to establish The Egyptian Mold & Die Association (EMDA).  The event was hosted by The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), under the commission of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).  The delegation participated in a well-received reception at FEI during their visit.  Three experts, including President ITO, delivered speeches to a packed house of around 200 attendees, with standing room only.  In local mold companies, a blend of manufacturing methods was utilized, involving influences from Europe (especially Italy, Germany, and Turkey), China, Taiwan, and Japan (many Egyptian managers have come to Japan for training).  Local mold business owners expressed a strong desire for collaboration with reliable Japanese companies.  Egypt has a valuable foundation for fostering manufacturing and is a country expected to develop further.  On the other hand, Japanese companies have not yet advanced into the country as much as European or Chinese companies.  The challenge lies in how to heighten the interest of the Japanese industrial sector in order to deepen the ties between our two nations and create synergy by leveraging each other’s strengths.  On the final day, reports on this mission were submitted to Ambassador IWAI at the Embassy of Japan in Egypt.
